Dior illustrated, Rene Gruau, Somerset House.

This was by far one of the best exhibitions I have ever visited. I was in a state of shock. Normally I don't really enjoy trailing after friends or family for miles upon miles of the prinstine marle floor of various historical art galleries, but wow. We spent hours in there! Each section was perfectly divided up in to easy to follow segments, for students, children and the general public with an intriguing twist to the end. Something which I adored was the 'Inspired by...' section, a series of totally different artists were asked to respond in which ever way they wished to Gruau's work, not all of which I liked but intrigued me, I was not the only person astonished by his work.
A great afternoon which is well worth a visit. (There was even a Matthew Williamson showcase on another floor). And ill be taking my sketchbook back with me when i next visit the city just before the exhibition closes for some last minute close ups.
